DIAGNOSTIC TESTING

At Wolfe Functional Medicine, we are proud of our full-suite of products, services, and tests designed to help our patients reach their full health and performance potential. These are just a few of the health tests  we offer at Wolfe Functional Medicine!

FOOD SENSITIVITY/ALLERGY TESTING

Food sensitivities and allergies can both impact your health, but sensitivities are often overlooked because they don’t always trigger an immediate reaction. Instead, they can create a delayed, cumulative inflammatory response that may contribute to symptoms such as digestive issues, fatigue, skin concerns, headaches, and more.

In some cases, ongoing food-related inflammation may also play a role in immune system dysregulation, including autoimmune patterns. Testing helps identify how your body is responding to specific foods, allowing us to uncover hidden triggers that may be contributing to chronic inflammation.

With this insight, we can create personalized nutrition strategies designed to reduce immune stress, support gut health, and promote overall balance and well-being.

COMPREHENSIVE BLOODWORK:

This testing provides a detailed look at your overall health by evaluating key biomarkers related to metabolism, immune function, hormones, nutrient status, and inflammation. Rather than simply flagging abnormal values, we assess patterns and subtle imbalances that may be affecting how your body is functioning.

Comprehensive bloodwork can help uncover root contributors to symptoms such as fatigue, weight changes, mood imbalances, digestive concerns, and hormone disruption. By interpreting your results through a more functional and preventative lens, we can identify early shifts in physiology and use this information to guide personalized recommendations that support balance, energy, and long-term health.

PCR COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC STOOL ANALYSIS

This test can identify if there is an imbalance in healthy gut flora and/or essential short chain fatty acids, as well as identify inflammatory markers. It also tells us which bacteria/parasites are responsible for any imbalance or infection and with which healthy bacteria (microflora) you may be experiencing deficiencies. With an additional add-on, it also allows us to confirm “Leaky Gut Syndrome”. That means that the tight junctions of gut lining become weak and often separate causing unwanted particles to pass through the lining and into the gut stream. This can cause a host of inflammatory health conditions, auto-immune diseases, depression and anxiety, as well as skin problems, just to name a few.

HEAVY METAL TESTING

This testing is designed to assess potential exposure to toxic heavy metals and other environmental elements that may accumulate in the body over time. These toxins can interfere with normal cellular function and may contribute to symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, hormonal imbalance, and immune dysregulation.

In addition to identifying toxic burden, this test can also evaluate nutrient mineral status, helping to determine whether essential minerals are being depleted or imbalanced. Understanding both sides of this equation allows us to better support detoxification pathways, restore mineral balance, and optimize overall cellular health.

SMALL INTESTINAL BACTERIAL OVERGROWTH (SIBO) BREATH TEST

This test helps identify bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine, a common but often overlooked condition that can significantly impact digestive function. SIBO may contribute to chronic symptoms such as bloating, gas, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, and nutrient malabsorption.

By identifying the presence and pattern of overgrowth, we can better understand the underlying cause of digestive distress and guide targeted strategies to support gut balance, improve digestion, and restore optimal absorption and function.

VITAMIN & NUTRIENT DEFICIENCY TESTING

This comprehensive nutritional assessment evaluates key markers related to vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids, and overall metabolic function to provide a detailed picture of your body’s nutritional status. This testing looks at functional nutrient utilization at a cellular level, helping to determine what your body may be deficient in, not absorbing efficiently, or using at a higher demand due to stress, inflammation, or imbalance. It also assesses key pathways involved in energy production, detoxification, oxidative stress, neurotransmitter balance, and gut function, offering insight into how efficiently your body is producing energy and responding to internal stressors. As part of our comprehensive approach, we include advanced genetic and functional markers to identify how your unique physiology may impact absorption, metabolism, and overall requirements.

This information allows for highly personalized nutrition and supplementation strategies designed to restore balance, improve energy, and support optimal long-term health.

SALIVA AND URINE METABOLITE HORMONE TESTING

This advanced hormone assessment evaluates key sex and adrenal hormones, including estrogen and androgen metabolites, to provide a comprehensive view of hormonal balance and detoxification pathways. Rather than only measuring hormone levels, it also assesses how hormones are metabolized and eliminated, offering deeper insight into endocrine function. A full diurnal cortisol pattern is included to evaluate adrenal rhythm and stress response throughout the day, along with melatonin (6-OHMS) to assess circadian rhythm and sleep regulation.

Additional markers such as 8-OHdG provide insight into oxidative stress and cellular damage, while a comprehensive organic acids profile offers information on metabolic function, neurotransmitter activity, nutrient needs, and gut microbial balance. Together, this combination provides a detailed and functional view of hormone regulation, stress physiology, and cellular health that is not available through standard serum testing alone.

MYCOTOXIN/MOLD INFECTION TESTING

Mycotoxins are some of the most prevalent toxins in the environment. Mycotoxins are metabolites produced by fungi like mold, which can infest buildings, vehicles, and foodstuffs. These fungi then release mycotoxins into the environment causing symptoms of many different chronic diseases. Diseases and symptoms linked to mycotoxin exposure include fever, pneumonia-like symptoms, heart disease, rheumatic disease, asthma, sinusitis, cancer, memory loss, vision loss, chronic fatigue, skin rashes, depression, ADHD, anxiety, and liver damage. This is a very important test for “Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome”.

LYME TESTING

Early and late-stage Lyme (and co-infections) testing through PCR detection and IgeneX. This test is an immunoblot test + PCR vs. western blot and is found to be much more sensitive. This is completed through a blood test.
